Kick Off Kamp

Hello Mountain Oaks families-

Welcome to the 25/26 school year!

Our first day of school is Monday August 11th. We will be starting the school year with our annual Kick Off Kamp on August 11th at 9am. The classes at KOK are inspired by our staff, for parents, to support a deeper understanding of our program. Our staff will also have activities and games planned for students while their parents are in classes. The Huckleberry room will be open for our middle and high school students to “hang out”.
A light breakfast of juice, muffins and fruit will be available in the gym at 9am.
We will be having a pizza lunch at 12:20pm (also in the gym).
There will be booths in the gym during lunch so our community can learn more about our PTO, FNL Program, Green Team, School Counselor, Parents Supporting Parents Club, etc.

The PTO will be sponsoring two fundraisers at KOK:
Mountain Oaks tie dye shirts
Coffee Beans from Mother Lode Coffee Company
Everyone in the family is welcome to attend. Remember to RSVP so we know how much pizza to order :)

KOK Schedule

CalKids Savings Program

The CalKIDS Savings Program, administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, provides children born in California with state-funded CalKIDS scholarships that can be used on qualified higher education expenses such as tuition, books, and computer equipment. All children born in California on or after July 1, 2022, are eligible for a scholarship, ranging from $25 to $175, regardless of income. Low-income students are eligible for scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,500. 2024 Graduates' After Graduation Survey

2024 graduates, we need your help. Every year the state requires us to have our previous year's graduates complete a post high school survey. We need this information before June 13th to report to the state. The survey will only take about 2 minutes. Immunization Requirements 25-26 School year

After the passage of Senate Bill 276 in January 2020, new immunization rules were implemented at Mountain Oaks School. Mountain Oaks has always been understanding and supportive of parent choice, while operating within the legal guidelines set by the California Department of Education. We continue to enroll students without current immunizations as independent study only students. We also inform independent study only students that they would not be eligible for enrollment in workshops, classes, events and other group school activities.

In the 2025/26 school year, our school and country nurse will be auditing all workshops, classes, outings, and school events for student immunization status before approving enrollment/attendance at the event.

The audit will verify that all enrolled students participating in on-campus and/or group activities (such as workshops and field trips) have up-to-date immunization records reflecting one of the following statuses:
● On Schedule with Immunizations
● Students with IEPs will continue to participate in those activities and workshops that are part of their assigned services. This includes lunch.
● A current state medical exemption will allow you to continue to participate in school group activities. The information for how to apply for a medical exemption can be found on the state website: https://cair-me.cdph.ca.gov/home

Students must meet all specified criteria to participate in on-campus group activities. Those who do not meet the immunization requirements may enroll in Mountain Oaks as Independent Study students only.

Volleyball 25-26

We are starting the Girls' Volleyball sign ups for next school year. This is for 7-12th grade girls. Seventh and eighth graders can "Red Shirt" which means they can practice with the team but they are not able to play in the games because it is a high school league. We will have a Volleyball Orientation on August 11th immediately following Kick-Off-Kamp. We would like to have all players and their parents attend the meeting. Pre-Order your 24-25 Yearbook

We are taking orders for our 24-25 Yearbooks. The cost is $54 for a hardcover yearbook with 140 full color pages. Orders must be placed online. Please click on the title to order your yearbook. Posted 4/9/25

Lunches

We contract with Calaveras River Academy for our food services and hot lunches. They are currently in the process of hiring someone after receiving notice that their previous employee would not be returning. Unfortunately, we will only be able to offer shelf-stable lunches while they are in the process of hiring someone. Families must still sign-up 5 days in advance through the lunch program and list "Shelf Stable" as their chosen lunch. We need to know in advance to make sure we have enough items to make the necessary lunches. Once they have someone hired, we will post the hot lunch menu. Sonora Satellite Resource Center Closing

Dear Mountain Oaks Community Members,

I regret to inform you that due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be closing the Mountain Oaks Sonora Satellite Resource Center at the end of the 24/25 school year. The building we are currently in was sold a few months ago. Unfortunately, we have been unable to secure a renewal of our lease for the building, which has led to this difficult decision.

Lunches

​Just a reminder that if you signed up for lunch and are not going to be on campus to get lunch please let us know before 11:00 that day.  That way we have time to inform the cafeteria lady and she won't prepare the food.  Just today alone we had 11 out of 18 students not show up for the lunches they ordered.  That is a lot of wasted food.  At some point, it could become an issue and we could lose the hot lunch program and only be able to offer shelf-stable lunches to our families. Restroom Vape Sensors

Dear Mountain Oaks Community Members,

We have recently installed vape sensors in the All Gender Restrooms and the Student Restrooms in the gym hallway. These sensors will alert staff when anyone is smoking or vaping in these restrooms. Anyone who is seen leaving the restrooms after the vape alert (cameras are in the hallways) can face investigation and potentially discipline.
